As a landscape photographer having moved Colorado 5 years ago, I have become acutely aware of the population explosion, the boom in housing, and the rapidly accelerated growth of fracking here. A key motivator for me in starting this project was the house explosion in Firestone, Colorado, from an abandoned and forgotten gas line in 2017. I find it interesting that drilling is now a part of the landscape of communities. I see another historic explosive development phase in the history of Colorado and the West, and it is an opportunity to visually explore what is happening to the land.
